You teach Barre, POUND, Zumba, and SBZ. Which is your favorite to teach and why?
Strong by Zumba is my favorite at the moment. I love seeing participants push themselves through HIIT sequences to the beat. The music motivates them to get an extra rep in, move their feet a little faster, and jump an inch higher. If you regularly find yourself syncing up your exercises with the BPMs of whatever is playing on the gym speakers or in your earbuds, I recommend checking SBZ out!
What do you hope your students take away from your classes?
A feeling of accomplishment for showing up, moving their body, and (almost certainly) trying something new.
You are also a nurse in the geriatric department. What do you enjoy about your job?
I learn something every day!
Outside of fitness and work, what do you do for fun?
Hiking, reading, checking out breweries around town
You always bring such positive joyous energy to class. Can I have what you're having? Seriously though, is there a secret to your inner radiance?
I am genuinely excited to get away from the world for bit whenever I go to or teach a class. Once that music starts, I feel like everything that demands my attention during the day – errands, news headlines, notifications from cute animal profiles I follow on social media – stops at the door. I'm there to have fun, get loud (yelling affirmations and singing are great options), and be present with other human beings. Also coffee.
