You are pretty new to Fremont Health Club and to Seattle. Where are you from? What brought you to the PNW?
I was originally born in NYC (Brooklyn, to be exact)! When I was 12, I moved to Florida and did middle school through my Masters there. Then, I moved to Boston for work right after college, then DC, then back to NYC… then, finally landed in Seattle. Fun fact: I love Seattle and plan to be here a while!!
What classes do you teach?
All things dance fitness! I think there is something great that can be incorporated from all styles and formats of dance- why limit yourself to just one!?
How long have you been dancing? What do you get from it?
I have been dancing for about 10 years. I say I went to the "School of YouTube" because one day, I was watching a Shakira music video and I just thought to myself... I can do that. And then I spent the entire summer of 2009 just learning choreography from different videos I would see on Youtube!
What can a student expect from one of your classes? How do you want them to walk away feeling?
They should expect to get their heart rates pumping… but that's just one piece of it. Dance is also a proven mood booster, and ultimately a great way to have fun for an hour! Expect to sweat (and smile) a lot!
What do you do outside of the gym?
I love exploring the food scene- and that's all meals: breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner (including cocktails)! Probably not much of a surprise but I LOVE going out dancing. If you have any great food or nightlife recommendations, I am all ears!!
Anything else you would like to share with our members?
I would like to say give this class a try! You don't have to be a classically trained dancer (I certainly am not); it's all about burning calories, toning (yes, there will be squatting), and having a great fun work out - I promise!
