Interview with FHC & Lindsey Doan:
Tell us what motivated you to become a PT?
"I’ve always been interested in the human body, but I had a few injuries during high school and college that brought me to physical therapy. It was during college when I was working with one PT who really inspired me, and it just clicked during that time that this was the right path for me. I love learning about the human body, and it can be so rewarding as a physical therapist to really get to know someone and what’s going on in their life and what makes them tick. Then, together, we can come up with a plan to help them reach their goal - whether it’s rehabbing an injury or hitting a new PR in their sport. Seeing people achieve these milestones is so fulfilling."

How did you get started on a Kettlebell passion?
"As a physical therapist, my priorities are twofold:
1) practicing what I preach - training is part of my lifestyle, and
2) constantly learning and striving to level up. I’m always eager to expand my knowledge, not only from other physical therapists and rehab professionals but also from coaches and trainers. I firmly believe that adopting a ‘long-game’ mindset that comes with training is essential for both rehab and overall health.

In my own training, I had been using kettlebells for 4-5 years but 2 years ago I decided to get more serious with them. So, when the opportunity to learn from an industry leader not only in kettlebells but in coaching and training presented itself, I couldn’t say no. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for my career and has allowed me to meet some amazing people who are now some of my closest friends as well as expand my knowledge and confidence as both a coach and rehab provider."

Any personal experience that brings you to today and where you still want to go?
"I know I’ve talked up how much I love physical therapy - and I do, but I’ll be honest that there have been times in recent years when I wasn’t sure I’d make it in the profession for the rest of my career. I was disheartened by the medical system as well as the insurance system and how we all seemed more focused on acting from a reactive standpoint to pain, injury, disease, and healthcare as a whole. It wasn’t making sense to me anymore. I needed to find a way where I could better support people throughout their lifetime; to proactively decrease the likelihood of injury and disease while helping improve someone’s quality of life. That’s what led me to open my own business, Adapt Movement & Rehab.

I want to continue connecting with more people and help them take control of their health. Pain, injury, and aging don’t have to be seen as limitations; instead, they can be opportunities to build a stronger and more resilient body!"
