As we age, it can be harder to stay motivated. Do you have any advice for members? What are some things you do each week? I like to stay active daily whether it be going for walks on my off days from running or lifting weights. I run 3-4 days a week and lift 3-4 days a week and try to take 1-2 days off. In terms of eating healthy I try not to obsess about it too much. I don’t deprive myself from foods that aren’t healthy but don’t indulge on them regularly so it’s a real treat! As a trainer I like to be a good example to my clients so they see that I practice what I preach.
Kim, you have been with FHC for about 10 years! With your 60th birthday just around the corner, do you have any big goals? I do like to set goals for myself to keep myself accountable and not let time slip by. So for my 60th birthday I told myself to run a half marathon and be able to do pull-ups and handstands! I think I’m just about there! Haha
We heard you have asked your family to participate in the half marathon with you, can you speak about family fitness? The family are all active too. As you know Scott goes to the gym regularly and as for my kids they stay active as well doing various sports. So it’s really nice that when I ask the family to run a half marathon with me they are so supportive and able!!
Do you have a favorite go-to recipe? I make these muffins (see below) for Scott and myself on a regular basis as it’s a fairly healthy go to snack. I have made some adjustments to make them just a little more healthy.
Can you believe you been with FHC for about 10 years!? I really have appreciated FHC's support these 10 years! Lillian is so kind and patient. I am so grateful to be a part of the gym. I have met amazing people and have truly grown so much as a trainer and made some great friends. I look forward to continued growth as a trainer and inspire young people to take care of their bodies as we only have one!! How time flies! Cheers to another 10 years!!
