What inspired you to get into nutrition?
I was inspired to study nutrition after seeing close family members struggle with chronic health conditions and eating disorders. I became fascinated by how profoundly food influences our health, disease risk and management. But beyond our health, there’s a significant emotional aspect and cultural traditions with food that are important to honor.

How do you see nutrition and fitness going together?
Nutrition is certainly interconnected with fitness. Foods and drinks fuel performance, recovery, and body composition changes since the nutrients we break down from food are what builds every cell in our bodies. And just as importantly, what we eat also impacts our energy levels, moods, and digestive health.

Despite the need to focus on both food and fitness, I don’t believe in overhauling everything at once. Sustainable change happens through small, consistent shifts that you can realistically commit to. I encourage people to master one or two habits at a time until they feel automatic. That will set you up for long term success.

What keeps you motivated to stay on track?
What keeps me motivated is how clearly I can feel the difference when I’m consistent. My mood improves with regular movement, and my digestion quickly reflects my food choices. That feedback loop is powerful.

For anyone feeling overwhelmed by nutrition advice, I suggest starting simple: begin most meals with vegetables of any kind, ideally in a variety of colors throughout the week. Fiber slows glucose absorption, stabilizes energy, supports gut health, and naturally increases nutrient density. It’s a small shift that creates meaningful impact.

I also encourage people to track patterns instead of calories, while aiming for a balanced plate, but how they feel. Energy, mood, digestion, sleep. Your body gives you data every day. Learning to interpret it is far more powerful than following rigid rules.

What is the current project you have?
I’ve recently started working on a seasonal No Cook recipe collections to help people eat healthy meals with the seasons. It’s important that everyone has access to healthy meals even if you don’t want to cook or don’t know how to cook. And it’s important to eat with the seasons for a variety of reasons but mostly because it tastes the best, it’s the most affordable way to eat, and it keeps us in tune with natural cycles.

Scroll down to see a quick and easy recipe from the spring collection. Recipes in the collection have notes to list substitutes to accommodate a variety of dietary preferences and allergies, such as vegan or gluten free.

Healthy eating shouldn’t require complicated recipes or hours in the kitchen. These recipes do require some prep, like chopping and mixing, and possibly shredding a rotisserie chicken, but they provide balance and nutrition without a stove or oven.

My business, Renewtrition, is centered around creating nourishing routines not just for the body, but for the mind and spirit as well.

After more than a decade working in modern healthcare, I began expanding beyond traditional nutrition counseling into a more holistic model of wellness. I now lead a meditation club to support stress management and mental focus. I also practice Reiki, a gentle, hands-on energy therapy that promotes deep relaxation by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, the body’s primary healing state.

In conventional healthcare, mental and spiritual well-being are often overlooked. My work is about bringing those elements back into the conversation, alongside practical nutrition and lifestyle strategies.
